Langston Hughes childhood

James Langston Hughes was born February 1, 1902 in Joplin, Missouri. From 1903 to 1915 he lived mostly in Lawrence with his grandmother, mary Langston. He wrote that he was often lonely living with his grandmother. He worked odd jobs to help his grandma with the mortgage payment jobs like selling newspaper, selling maple seeds and working at a hotel. At the spring os 1914 his mother died and he went to live with the Reeds where he was very happy.
